I own and operate my own snowboarding business, which I’ve had for about a year. I used to work as a management consultant before deciding to start my own business. Prior to doing this, I was very anxious and had no idea what level of results I would achieve. The reality is that roughly 20% of companies fail in their first year, and I didn’t want to be one of those business owners who was left with no results and a mountain of debt to manage.

My Snowboarding Business

Snowboarding Equipment For Sale

Fortunately, my snowboarding business has been good thus far, and this is largely due to the fact that I operate in a high-demand market where I am the only distributor in my area. Since there are two nearby ski slopes, both of which receive a large number of visitors per week, I was conscious that there was a need for snowboarding or skiing equipment in my neighborhood. I began by selling snowboarding equipment but soon realised that I should also sell skiing equipment, and this is a decision that I am glad I made. My sales have increased by 60 percent since I began selling skiing equipment.

I now have four employees who I pay well and who are extremely loyal to my business. The best thing is that they all have a passion for snowboarding business and skiing, which shows in the way they are able to assist my customers in making educated decisions.

Take Care Of The Local Ski Slopes

I have a contract with the local ski slopes that anyone who joins their slope receives a 10% discount on all purchases. For a variety of reasons, this is something I considered. The first reason is that I didn’t want any of them to open a shop on their property, and I figured that by giving them something for free, they’d be less likely to try to eat there.

I also believed that by doing so, they would perceive the opportunity to penetrate my business as less lucrative. I also have arrangements with them where I sell their stocks at very low prices, and I make no profit from the sales I make to them. This gives them the idea that I have much higher profit margins than they might achieve, which discourages them from competing.

Another way in which I’ve had some success is via my online shop. I had a website built so that I could sell all of my lines to a global market. I compete online with a lot of other websites that sell similar products to mine, but I want to improve my website’s ranking.

Last Thoughts

I’m still on the 14th page of Google for snowboarding tools, and I’m aiming to be on the first page for some words later this year. The thing is, if you have a high ranking in the search engines, you can be sure to close a certain amount of sales without having to spend any money on ads. There’s also the fact that if you’ve made a single deal with a customer, they’re more likely to return in the future if they need additional items from your range. I’ve also started selling wholesale through a different website, which has proven to be beneficial in two ways.

I’m beginning to raise my sales volume, but I’m also lowering my cost per unit by purchasing in bulk. This is something that has the potential to develop my company, but right now my primary goal is to increase sales through my website.
